Battery Preventative Maintenance work
- Inspect the appearance and cleanliness of the batteries and battery room.
- Clean normal cell top dirt accumulation
- Measure and record the total battery float voltage and charging current
- Visually inspect the jars and covers for cracks and leakage
- Visually inspect for evidence of corrosion
- Measure and record the ambient temperature
- Verify the condition of the ventilation equipment
- Verify the integrity of the battery racks
- Measure and record the specific gravity of all cells when applicable
- Measure and record the acmv of each battery (impedance) when applicable
- Randomly measure and record representative cell temperatures
- Measure and record the float voltage of all cells
- Add distilled water when applicables
- At least one time a year test 100% of the battery connection resistances using calibrated digital micro-ohmmeter on wet cell systems or provide Midtronics Celltron
- Provide a load test on sealed cell batteries at least once a year per manufacturers specifications or Midtronics Celltron
- Provide a detailed written report noting any deficiencies and
- corrective action needed, taken, or planned
